Waves Day 7

Wave Velocity

Objective:
What: SWBAT calculate the velocity of a wave, given its wavelength and frequency.
How: Students will use the equation for wave velocity to solve released CST problems with 80% accuracy on an exit slip.
Why: To be academic achievers we need to be able to use our knowledge of waves and their properties to solve problems on the CST.

Agenda
1. Do Now
2. Notes
3. Wave velocity practice
4. Exit Slip

Waves Day 6

Polarization, Diffraction, and Refraction
When light waves change direction, we get really cool colors

What: SWBAT describe the behavior of an wave that is being polarized, diffracted, or refracted.
How: Students will create a comic strip to show at least 2 of the different ways that light waves change direction.
Why: To be critical thinkers, we need to extend our knowledge of waves to the ways they interact with their environment.

Agenda
1. Do Now
2. Brainpop and quiz
3. Bill Nye - Light optics
4. Light optics vocab notes
5. Exit Slip
