Thermodynamics Day 4 CONTINUED!

Heat transfer

Objective:
What: SWBAT describe the three ways that heat is transferred.

How: Students will complete an exit slip at the end of class to draw and describe what the three types of heat transfer are, and how they help heat to move from one place to another.

Why: To be critical thinkers, we need to connect what we know about heat to the ways that we can see heat in the real world.

I. Heat Activity

II. Eureka - Heat as Energy

III. Eureka - Conduction

IV. Bouyancy and Convection

Thermodynamics Day 4

Energy Transfer and Heat

Objective:
What: SWBAT describe what heat is, and describe 3 ways that thermal energy can be transferred.
How: Students will complete a webquest that goes through information about heat and complete the  corresponding worksheet with 80% accuracy.
Why: To be critical thinkers we need to connect our knowledge about what makes up matter to the ways that heat can be transferred through matter.

Agenda:
WEBQUEST!  FOllow the directions on your packet, and complete the different sections of the webquest in order.  If one page is not loading, or a video is lagging, please start the next section.  Otherwise, everything should be completed in order.  Links for early finishers can be found below the last webquest link.

Thermodynamics Day 3

Phase Change
Objective
What: SWBAT describe how matter changes between different states.
How: Student will complete an exit slip where they're able to describe in words and pictures what makes matter change between states.
Why: To be critical thinkers we need to connect our prior knowledge about states of matter with the way that the different states change into each other.

Agenda
1. Do Now- States of matter
2. Brainpop- Matter Changing States
3. Bill Nye- States of Matter
4. Holt Physical Science- States of Matter and Phase Changes reading
5. Exit Slip
