Thermodynamics Day 2

Solids, Liquids and Gases

Objective:
What: SWBAT describe characteristics of the molecules in solids, liquids and gases.
How: By completing a worksheet and an exit slip, students will draw and describe at least 3 properties of solids, liquids and gases with 80% accuracy.
Why: To be life long learners we need to connect our prior knowledge about atoms to the way that they come together.  In the future we will use this knowledge to describe how heat travels through solids, liquids and gases.

Agenda
WEBQUEST!
1. Look at your worksheet to see what activity you should be working on.
2. You'll need to click on one link at a time.
3. Read the text, watch the video or complete the activity.
4. Use what you learn to answer the questions on your worksheet.
5. Click on the next link on the blog, and continue onward!

VI. Gases

IX. Click on the picture below and try out all the different ways to make things gas, liquid and solid!

X. EARLY FINISHERS:
Brainpop- watch the video, take the quiz, and write your score on the bottom left of your exit slip

Check out my playlist on Solids, Liquids and Gases! (GREAT for studying!)

EXIT SLIP
Divide the exit slip part of your paper into 3 sections and label them Gas, Liquid, and Solid.  Draw a picture of what the particles look like in each state, and list AT LEAST 3 characteristics of each state.

Thermodynamics Day 1

Atoms!
What: SWBAT describe the atoms that make up everything around them.
How: By filling out an exit slip students will describe the properties of atoms and label the parts
Why: To be critical thinkers about the world around us, we need to examine and investigate what makes up the things we touch and see.

Agenda
1. Do Now
2. Ant Man- Why does he shrink?
3. Brainpop- Atoms
4. Bill Nye- Atoms
5. Atoms reading, and atoms reading HW
6. Exit Slip
