Bridge Project Day 2

Background Research

Objective:

What: SWBAT design and create a bridge that will hold up the greatest amount of weight-for-mass.
How: Students will use up to 500 toothpicks and Elmer’s glue to construct a bridge that spans an 18-inch gap.
Why: To be life long learners, we need to apply the physical concepts learned in class to real life situations.  Also, 3 winning teams from all the classes will get extra credit.

CST Review Day 10

Magnetism

Objective:
What: SWBAT apply the properties that make objects magnetic or not.
How: Students will correctly complete a comic strip on magnetism that demonstrates 2 different ways to turn something into a magnet and one situation where an object cannot turn into a magnet.  
Why: To be academic achievers, we need to decimate the CST and the Physics final!

Seismic Waves

What: SWBAT synthesize examples of the two types of Seismic Waves.
How: Students will synthesize a comic strip demonstrating how the two types of waves transfer energy, using the terms transverse, longitudinal, wave and transfer of energy.
Why: To be critical thinkers about waves, we need to examine the different ways that waves transfer energy.
